Reno/Carson City/Tahoe Field Tour of Erosion Control and Restoration Projects

July 27, 2017

Thursday, July 27 (Reno, NV) Reno/Carson City/Tahoe Field Tour of Erosion Control and Restoration Projects. Make it a fun long weekend in Reno stay the weekend.

This field tour will focus on erosion control and restoration projects in Reno, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe. The climate of this semi-arid region currently consists of mostly cold winters and warm-hot summers. Typically most precipitation occurs in the fall and winter, following the short growing season. However, this past winter brought unusually high precipitation, resulting in erosion, sedimentation, slope failures, but also successes. We will visit projects completed a number of years ago, those recently completed, and others under construction. Stops include a creek restoration project, freeway projects, a multi-use bike path, an emergency truck ramp, and water quality improvement projects. Each unique stop along the tour will highlight challenges and solutions, comparing methodologies and costs, and encouraging plenty of interaction among the experts in attendance.

We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at Kelley Erosion Control, (2395-B Tampa Street Reno, NV 89512) for a continental breakfast and orientation.
