Call for State Ambassadors
The Western Chapter International Erosion Control Association
(WCIECA) is organized as a 501c(3) not-for-profit corporation
to unite interested parties into a group for the discovery,
collection, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge
toward the attainment of effective and economical methods
of preventing erosion and sedimentation. Chapter membership
is comprised of individuals located or doing business in
Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, and California who are members of
the International Erosion Control Association (IECA).
The Western Chapter includes diversity of the regions that
have different regulatory agencies, soil types, vegetation,
and rainfall conditions. All of which are significant to
the erosion control professional. The Western Chapter is
committed to providing information and training opportunities
to the members in all of the Chapter’s regions
In 2007 the Chapter will launch the Western Chapter State
Ambassador Program to help ensure that the issues important
in each of the Chapter’s states are represented in
the planning and activities of the Chapter. Each state in
the chapter’s region will have an ambassador who will
work closely with the Chapter Directors. The goal of the
program is for the ambassadors to help identify issues, training
needs, and regulatory changes, in each of the states; to
help coordinate activities within his or her state; and to
serve as a local point of contact for members from his or
her state.
The Chapter Directors will appoint ambassadors based on
self-nomination. The inaugural slate of Ambassadors will
help to create the
program goals and flesh-out the role of the Ambassadors.
Peter McRae (
), Administrative Vice President,
will lead this initiative for the Chapter. If you are interested
in serving as a State Ambassador, please submit a self-nomination
in the form of a brief statement of interest by Friday,
March 16th to Sandy Mathews
(
),Chapter Secretary,
that addresses why you would like to serve as an ambassador
including how long you have been a Chapter member and the
issues that you believe are important to members from your
state.
