Join your erosion control colleagues in Hawaii at the
Ahupua'a Conference at the Sheraton Waikiki
in Honolulu.
The phrase Ahupua'a is an ancient Hawaiian land division
representing from the "mountain to the sea”,
wherein were contained all the elements of a self-sustaining
community: land for cultivation; food; fresh water; and
natural resources. The Ahupua'a was responsibly managed
for survival of the community. At the conference, local
experts and invited speakers will explore the theme of
the relationship between the land and the sea with a focus
on erosion and sediment control, and storm water pollution
prevention to protect the soil and water resources in a
series of technical papers and special sessions in three
tracks: Ahupua'a; Erosion Control Basics; and Soils and
Vegetation.
